Hetain Patel’s – TEN (En Français)

February 23rd, 2013

Hetain Patel's Ten

I am honoured to have been asked to join the second tour of Hetain Patel’s critically acclaimed ‘TEN’.

Having performed in the first tour at various theatres across the UK, I am extremely excited about the second tour in France (dates and venues below).

It is the first time the piece will be performed using a combination of French and English, with French surtitles; which whilst initially daunting is also very motivating in terms of inspiring the best possible performance.

The last album was recorded by Dan Foord (Ex Sikth) and these guys are serious heavyweights, having members from bands such as ‘Ted Maul’

If you haven’t heard their first album do so, it’s some of the best Tech-Metal around, and the next album is going to be Amazing!

Master-class With Billy Cobham – ACM Guilford

February 20th, 2013

Today I saw Billy Cobham and as is usual at a master-class, he asked for questions.

I asked him, “At the time of recording birds of fire, who were your influences as a drummer?”

He looked thoughtful and, in short answered, “The band, John and the band. There wasn’t really anyone around at that time who I could look to.”

I then asked him if he felt he was a pioneer of that style of drumming.

To which he replied, “No. I just did what I needed to.”

This struck me as a very honest and humble statement. I feel Billy’s influence in his field is massive, and certainly a huge inspiration on my path to understand the art of drumming.

Legend.
